“If you can’t help a hundred people, then just help one.”

We all have the opportunity to make a difference each and every day. We may often think, I will wait until I can do more or give more or help more. Yet there may be that one person who needs you today and who cannot wait until tomorrow. That is why this quote is so appropriate when thinking about charitable giving. Help one! Give what you can! And feel absolutely great about it!

When you work for a charity, you meet some of the most amazing people who truly believe that by helping a little they are doing a lot. One of those people who we met this year was Nadine Mueller.

Nadine decided that this year she was going to ask her birthday party guests to make a donation to Compass to Care instead of giving her a gift.  Via her heartfelt gesture, she created an opportunity for others to also give a little.  The collective impact was great!! One year of giving up getting birthday gifts resulted in this one little girl raising over $1000 to help kids travel for cancer treatment!!!

We would like to extend a special thank you to Nadine’s parents, Tracy & Kevin Mueller, for hosting an awesome party. Thank you to the kids and parents who came to the party and who made a donation. And a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO NADINE for being so thoughtful and kind-hearted and for helping other kids instead of getting birthday gifts.
