Press Release: Half A Million Miles Traveled

Compass to Care Childhood Cancer Foundation Announces Milestone of Half A Million Miles Traveled By Beneficiary Children

Chicago, Illinois (August 4, 2015)  –  Compass to Care, The Mike & Sandy Ernsdorff Childhood Cancer Foundation announced today they have reached the milestone of helping children with cancer travel over 500,000 miles to access cancer treatment. Compass to Care, which was founded in 2010, has helped 155 children from 24 states reach medical centers across the country for cancer treatment.

“The continued growth and support we are able to provide for children with cancer affirms out commitment to being a reliable travel resource in the pediatric oncology community,” said Compass to Care founder, Michelle Ernsdorff. “This milestone is truly a testament to the infrastructure our Board of Directors has worked to achieve, as well as to the generosity of our supporters.  With both working in unison, we will continue to reach many more milestones as we support children on their cancer journeys.”

Compass to Care’s mission is to ensure children, whose parents were facing financial difficulties, can get from their homes to the hospital for cancer treatment. The organization pays for all travel expenses, including airfare, bus fare, car rentals, gasoline, lodging, parking fees, taxi fees, train fare, and tolls.

To become a Compass to Care beneficiary, children must be under the age of 18 years old, be in an active cancer treatment regimen, and their parents must demonstrate a financial need.

Parents who are in need of assistance can download an application from the organization’s website.
