What an amazing night! On September 13th, Compass to Care held its 3rd Annual Fashion Show at the Ballroom in Chicago. With models who have been touched by cancer, escorted by Members of the Chicago Police Department, the night turned out to be life-changing for our kids as we raised over $85,000 to help them travel for cancer treatment.
A very special guest attended the event, even though she had just had chemotherapy and spinal tap the day before. Lillian Spainhour is a spunky eight-year-old girl who is currently in treatment at the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate for leukemia. Her Mom, Leslie, gave a heartfelt speech about how difficult this journey to cure Lillian has been for her entire family and how Compass to Care has been able to not only provide relief, but to also give her hope.
Kevin Grace, a former HGTV Design Star Contestant who now is a Set Designer for the Steve Harvey Show, served as our emcee. He his fun and funny personality brought energy to the room as the guests prepared to watch the one-of-a-kind runway show, showcasing clothing from Co-op California Boutique. Lillian brought extra excitement to the fashion show when she walked the runway herself!
The show might have ended, but the night certainly didn’t. DJ Harsh kept the guests dancing until the very last moment.
We could not be more grateful to all of the guests who attended and generously supported our mission. We are thrilled to have the funding to help many, many more kids on their journeys toward a cancer cure.
