A Great Big Gigantic Thank You, or The results of an unexpected donation

It’s hard to put into words what you have done for Compass To Care by hosting your own event in 2016. A simple “Thank you” doesn’t seem grateful enough. Thank you very much? We are so blessed? A big thanks? Saying those words over and over throughout the year is humbling.

Being new to Compass to Care this year, I am still amazed at the generosity that just seems to come out of nowhere. True, there may not be a check in the mailbox every day, (there could be) but just when I begin to wonder how Michelle has done this day in and day out, someone will surprise us with a check from an event celebrating something. Sometimes we know the event was happening (and were able to help promote it), and sometimes, all of sudden, there it is. In honor of a birthday, a loved one, or “just because.”

And it’s not only individuals. Sometimes businesses, organizations and groups of people will decide we are a worthy cause (we think so too) and choose us as the recipient of their monthly collection, Jeans Day proceeds, or fundraising event. We have even been surprised by a few of these this year (well I have, Michelle may have known ahead of time). And we are even more excited when we are able to help promote your events on our website and social media pages (we all need a little help, after all).

The best, though, is getting to share this joy and excitement with you (although I think Michelle likes getting her picture taken with the oversized checks). Because without you – our supporters, our parents, our business partners, our volunteers, our cheerleaders – we just couldn’t help these wonderful, beautiful, talented kids travel to the cancer treatment they didn’t ask for, but can’t live without.

In the photo at the top of this post, is a small reminder of some of the events YOU hosted for Compass to Care in 2016! And thank you very much for your never-ending support of our mission (and please know we mean so much more than Thank You!)
